Frozen Little Fingers

This one seems appropriate for our never ending winter!

Frozen Little Fingers

Numb fingers and toes
And still so far to go.
Peering in at the snugly settled
Jealous of those already nestled.

Tangerine glows hug those inside
Only pride comforts me on this side.
Mummies clang pots and pans
As I nurse chapped lips and hands.

Another’s supper on a bitter wind
Teasing those of us not yet in.
Dinner, dinner, dinner!
The icy town simmers

Little feet pound wooden hills
And balk at healthy green meals.
I shiver and shuffle sadly by
Homeward bound under a frosty sky.

Damn, how winter lingers
On my frozen little fingers.
